Lean on me

Crossing the street yesterday, I noticed this couple stopped at the corner. The woman had taken a misstep and her right ankle slipped out of her shoe. Before she could even register her discomfort, the man stopped and bent down to attend to the problem. Her hand instinctively shot out to his shoulder for support. Once the shoe was back in its proper place, he patted her calf as one might for a child needing help with her laces.

Then they moved on down the road, resuming an easy banter that I imagine has been going on for decades. They had no idea I snapped this photo (or that they had made my day). CB
